Test results

The length of time for the surgery to receive your test results is dependent on what test you have. Most test results are available within a week. You can phone the practice for your results, although you would normally be contacted if there is any follow up action needed.

Getting your test results

If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

If possible, please avoid phoning for blood results on Mondays, as the phone lines can be extremely busy. You will be asked to call back if you contact the surgery for your test results outside of these times.

The reception staff are not clinicians. They are unable to advise you on what your test results mean. They can only pass on the doctor’s comments.

We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Questions about your results

If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
